Canberra trip 2013

​Earlier this month 125 year 7 students and 12 teachers travelled to the nation’s capital for Pacific Pines Primary’s annual Canberra trip. Questacon and the Australian institute of sport proved to be very popular venues. All students were moved by the significance of the war memorial, especially the wall of remembrance. Students on bus one were fortunate to be part of the opening of a gallery which recognises Australia’s part in the Afghanistan campaign. We were invited to lay a wreath as part of the ceremony an honour only given to two schools. Alyssa and Monique our female school leaders had the privilege of laying the wreath alongside the governor general Quentin Bryce, Kevin Rudd, Tony Abbott and the families of soldiers who have lost their lives in Afghanistan.There were so many venues, activities, funny moments and laughs that it is hard to put in words just how great the Canberra trip was. The 2013 trip was made even more special thanks to the wonderful behaviour and attitude of our students.The year 7 students of 2013 acknowledge the Australian government who recognises the importance of all young Australians being able to visit their national capital as part of their civics and citizenship education.Thanks to our parents for again supporting our Canberra trip, a special mention to Mrs Cridland and Patricia Girling for organising and running the chocolate fundraiser. A very special thank you to our dedicated staff – Mr Kelly, Mr Slinger, Mr Kent, Mr Berry Walker, Miss O, Mrs Anderson Mrs Taylor, Mr Kotoda, Mr Newman, Miss Hulands and Mrs Barratt who gave up time with their own families to provide such an amazing opportunity to our year 7’s.
