MyPad Program – Bring Your Own iPad

At Pacific Pines Primary School, students from Prep to Year 6 bring an iPad to school every day to support their learning. The MyPad Program is designed to enhance student engagement, creativity, and collaboration. The iPad is used as a learning tool to supplement traditional teaching methods, providing students with opportunities to interact with content in dynamic and meaningful ways.

Our approach maximises the use of iPads to consume and create content, develop problem-solving skills, and collaborate with peers and teachers in both digital and face-to-face settings. By integrating iPads into learning, we aim to foster critical thinking, independence, and digital literacy, ensuring students are equipped with the skills they need for the future.

The school provides and maintains all required apps, ensuring a seamless experience for both students and parents.

BYO iPad Requirements for 2025

We recommend the iPad 10th Generation with a minimum of 64GB storage for families purchasing a new device.

All students from Prep to Year 6 are required to bring an iPad that can run the latest iOS (iPad operating system). Currently, supported devices include:

  • iPad (7th Gen, 8th Gen, 9th Gen, 10th Gen)
  • iPad Air (3rd Gen and later)
  • iPad Pro (all models)

The iPad Mini does not meet minimum requirements.
We do not recommend purchasing a cellular-enabled iPad, as all students will have access to the Department of Education's secure and filtered WiFi at school.

Parent Checklist & Device Setup

Parents should ensure their child's iPad is ready for use at school by following these steps:

  • Parent Checklist – A guide to preparing the iPad for learning.
  • iPad Setup – Instructions for installing school-approved apps via the inTune Company Portal.
  • Required Apps – All essential learning applications are provided and maintained by the school.

Accessories & Recommendations

  • Headphones – Over-ear headphones with a 3.5mm connection jack are recommended (not wireless or Bluetooth).
  • Case & Screen Protection – A robust case and glass screen protector are strongly advised to minimise damage.
  • Insurance – AppleCare, warranty, or accidental damage protection is recommended.

Online Safety & Expectations

Students are expected to use their iPads at school as a learning tool and must adhere to the school's digital technology expectations. Our Cyber-Safety Action Plan teaches students how to navigate online spaces responsibly and outlines consequences for inappropriate use.

  • Online Services Consent – Parents must complete an Online Services Consent Form to allow students access to essential learning platforms.
  • Cyber Safety – We encourage families to access resources from the eSafety Commissioner for advice on online safety, privacy, and responsible technology use. Visit: www.esafety.gov.au

Enhancing Learning Through Technology

The MyPad Program at Pacific Pines Primary School supports:

  • Student engagement through interactive and hands-on learning experiences.
  • Personalised learning by providing access to a wide range of educational resources tailored to individual needs.
  • Development of 21st-century skills, including collaboration, communication, and digital literacy.
  • Seamless learning beyond the classroom, allowing students to continue exploring, researching, and creating outside of school hours.
  • Stronger home-school connections by enabling parents to engage with their child's learning journey.

By integrating technology into everyday learning, we aim to create confident, responsible, and innovative learners who are prepared for the digital world.
